Moon Crater Pendant #9
Moon Crater Pendant #9
This sterling silver pendant features a unique, crater-like design, resembling the surface of the moon. Its bowl or cup shape is created through a water casting process, resulting in one-of-a-kind formations with natural, uneven textures and dimples, mimicking a moon crater's rugged appearance. The organic shape, with its fluid curves and depressions, captures the spontaneity of the casting process, ensuring that no two pendants are ever identical.
The pendant measures approximately 11mm x 13mm and comes with a 18" sterling silver chain.
Water Casting Process: Water casting is a jewelry-making technique in which molten metal, in this case, sterling silver, is poured directly into water. When the hot metal meets the water, it rapidly cools and solidifies, creating random, unique forms. The sudden temperature change often causes the metal to splatter, bubble, or take on crater-like textures, as seen in this pendant. The unpredictability of the cooling process makes each piece distinct, with a raw and natural aesthetic that is impossible to replicate exactly. This technique emphasizes the natural beauty and organic shapes that occur when nature and craftsmanship intersect
