Mokume Gane 木目金 (Moe-koo-may Gah-nay). What the heck is it? It’s an ancient Japanese metalworking technique, that takes multiple layers of contrasting coloured metals and fuses, forges, twists and carves them. This process results in a wood grain pattern. Mokume Gane translates to wood grain metal. It is most know for its use in adorning Samurai swords.
